About The Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership

About The Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership

The Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership (ICPP) brought together Isuzu Motors Limited and Cummins Inc. in an effort to create opportunities to develop and bring new diesel and alternate powertrains to global markets. As a result of this May 2019 agreement, Cummins is providing Isuzu with mid-range B6.7 diesel platforms to be used in medium-size Isuzu trucks to meet customer needs.

In addition to the ICPP, both Isuzu and Cummins have joined forces in an Advanced Technology Agreement to conduct research jointly for various powertrain technologies. Both companies also have recently expanded their discussions to include new power sources, including electric powertrain technologies, as part of the path to become carbon neutral.

Both Isuzu and Cummins are dedicated to further enhancing efficiency and emissions capabilities for their advanced diesel products.

Cummins B6.7 Engine and Powertrain

The Cummins B6.7 diesel engine will be featured in the 2022 Isuzu F-Series trucks, which marks the first product from the ICPP to come to U.S. and Canadian markets.

Mated to an automated six-speed Allison RDS Transmission, the Cummins B6.7 offers a robust powertrain that offers reliability, power and fuel efficiency your drivers and business depends on. With 660ft-lbs of torque and 260 horsepower, Cummins gives your truck the highest horsepower and torque obtainable in a mid-size commercial truck. This increase in power from the Cummins B6.7 will allow the 2022 Isuzu F-Series to move heavier payloads no matter the environment.

About the 2022 Isuzu FTR and FVR

The Isuzu Class 6 FTR (25,950 - GVWR) and the Class 7 FVR (33,000 - GVWR) will feature the Cummins B6.7 diesel, along with a de-rated Class 6 FVR.

Both the FTR and FVR are low cab forwards (LCF), which provide larger cab-to-axle space and more cargo capacity compared to other conventional cab competitors with similar wheelbases. Both trucks also offer customers more versatility with body application choices to assist with heavier or larger loads. Customers looking to purchase the FTR and FVR can choose from a total of eight wheelbases.

The high standards customers expect from Isuzu when it comes to maneuverability, visibility and comfort all will be present in both new models. Drivers will appreciate the 50-degree inner wheel cut angle that gives the Isuzu F-Series class-leading turning diameters between 43.7-ft (152’’ WB) and 65-ft (248’’ WB). Superior visibility is made possible by Isuzu’s legendary low cab-forward design and new LED headlamps.
